What is e-roaming?

E-roaming in the area of electric mobility is comparable to roaming in the mobile phone sector. E-roaming enables electric car drivers to charge their cars at various charging stations of charging point operators (CPOs) using their charging app or RFID charging card at the charging provider (EMP).

This gives electric car drivers the advantage that they can use a large part of the publicly available charging infrastructure without having to conclude a contract with every charging point operator.

What is a roaming platform?

A roaming platform connects a charging point operator (CPO) with a charging provider (EMP) to provide the necessary data for the respective charging process. Alternatively, a direct networking of EMP and CPO can also take place. The corresponding CPO IT backends then take over the tasks of the roaming platform.
